At only age 14, Maggie M. and her family were devastated to learn she had Thyroid Cancer. Although her father was able to maintain his employment as a custodian with the Palm Beach County School District, during Maggie’s radiation therapy at Children’s Hematology and Oncology, her mother was unable to work so she could care for their sick daughter full-time, putting them at great risk of homelessness. With the help and generosity of our community, we were able to pay their rent and utilities for one year.
